MORTENSON CONSTRUCTION TO BUILD PIKES PEAK HABITAT’S 100TH HOME
Groundbreaking to be held March 10 at 3 p.m.

Colorado Springs, COLO. (March 3, 2010) – On Wednesday, March 10 at 3 p.m., Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity is breaking ground on its 100th home in El Paso County. Mortenson Construction is partnering with PPHFH to build the house in Woodmen Vistas, a 36-home development, located near Woodmen Road and Powers Boulevard.

“We are so thrilled about reaching this milestone at Pikes Peak Habitat,” said Paul Johnson, PPHFH Executive Director. “And to work with Mortenson Construction makes it even more special.”

This home is being built for a wonderful family, the Truongs. My Tien Truong, her two sons and her parents are receiving the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home and couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity. My Tien applied to Habitat to give her boys a safe, permanent place to grow up and to help her father, who is in a wheelchair, regain mobility again.

“Mortenson has had the honor and pleasure of building some of the largest and most recognizable structures in Colorado and across the nation, and we will take the same sense of pride in building this new home for the Truong family, which represents the 100th home for Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity,” said Clay Benson, director of design-build for Mortenson Construction.  “Mortenson is proud of our involvement with Habitat for Humanity and our ability to play an active role in the Colorado Springs community.”

The groundbreaking event will bring together Pikes Peak Habitat, Mortenson Construction and the Truong family to celebrate the beginning of this momentous occasion.
