Habitat Seeks Qualified Applicants
By: Kim Pattison

The New Year is a time to pick up new goals and brush off old ones that have fallen by the wayside. If one of those goals is purchasing a home, Pikes Peak Habitat is ready to help. Habitat is currently seeking families for its 2010 house builds. To qualify, families must have a clear need for housing, decent credit, and an income that is too low to qualify for traditional home financing. If you already have a home, please keep reading. Many of our homeowners had never heard of Habitat before a friend encouraged them to apply.

For qualified families, Habitat will harness the goodwill of volunteers and donors in Colorado Springs to build a home the family can finally call their own. The family works alongside volunteers to build the home and pays back the cost of construction though a zero-interest mortgage.

Families are selected based on their financial ability to repay the mortgage, their immediate need for more adequate housing, and their willingness to put time into building their house and assisting Habitat with its mission. A complete list of candidate requirements can be found here.

To start the application process, call the Habitat office at 475-7800 or fill out our pre-qualification form.
