Youth United Build
What is Youth United?
An annual house sponsored by youth ages 5-25 and built by youth ages 16-25.
Who participates?
The Youth United program encourages a diverse group of youth organizations to participate.
What is expected of the youth groups?
§ Together youth groups will help to raise the cost of a PPHFH house sponsorship at $55,000.
§ Volunteer opportunities will be provided for each youth group
§ Each youth group will provide an adult facilitator and two youth representatives to attend Steering Committee meetings and act as the liaison between Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity and the youth group.
§ Together Youth United and Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity will develop a city wide awareness event.
What is expected of Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity?
§ Select a qualified family committed to partnering with the program.
§ Provide land, architecture plans, construction supervisors, and materials.
§ Assist with volunteer coordination and fundraising efforts
§ Clearly communicate expectations to all partner youth organizations
§ Provide staff facilitator
Where will the Youth United Build take place?
Woodmen Vistas, PPHFH newest and largest development to date—36 homes near Woodmen and Powers.
How is the homeowner chosen?
Habitat has a fair and unbiased family selection process and chooses families based on three criteria: need for affordable housing, ability to pay their mortgage, and willingness to partner with Habitat.
Why should my youth organization participate in a Youth United program?
§ Provides youth an opportunity to take on leadership roles.
§ Allows youth organizations an opportunity to exchange thoughts and ideas with a diverse group of people from different organizations, faiths, ages and backgrounds.
§ Offers youth with an opportunity to help their peers as it provides meaningful roles for homeowner youth.
§ Provides an activity that makes a difference not only in the lives of the homeowner partners, but in the lives of donors and volunteers
