Support a Local Veteran Family Through the Gingerbread Home Build
Vote for your favorite gingerbread house by donating to support the construction of Pikes Peak Habitat’s 6th Veterans Build home for local Army veteran family Willie and Barbara!
El Paso County organizations, families, individuals, and groups of all kinds have decorated gingerbread homes in a friendly competition to raise funds to help Willie and Barbara, a local U.S. Army veteran family, build and purchase a new, affordable home in partnership with Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity.
Celebrate Apostles Build Home Dedication
We’re thrilled to dedicate our 2024 Apostles Build home for Bernadette’s family! Bernadette is a childcare worker who grew up in Fountain. Her roots and family are in El Paso County, and she’s excited to raise her three children in a permanent, safe home here.
Her children wrote blessings and reminders on the studs of their home, such as “I love this house!” and “In this room you love care and respect.” Apostles Build volunteers also shared blessings and verses on the boards that frame the home.
The dedication is free and open to the public. In addition to honoring Bernadette’s family, we will also recognize El Paso County churches who came together to help build the three-bedroom home. And we’ll introduce our 2025 Apostles Build future homeowners: Misty, David, and their three children. Please join us!
“Thanks for making it possible for my family to have a home for the rest of their life,” says Bernadette.
When: Saturday, Dec. 14, 10:30 a.m.
Where: The Ridge at Sand Creek

5th Veterans Build Home Dedication Video Available
Because of snow and road conditions, our 5th Veterans Build home dedication for Damian, Trinady, and their children on Saturday, Nov. 9, was a small, private ceremony. If you weren’t able to join in person, you can now watch video of the dedication!
Through a joint Building Community program between The Home Depot Foundation, Habitat for Humanity International, and Home Builders Institute (HBI), Pikes Peak Habitat was awarded $158,000 for the home. As part of this program, Pikes Peak Habitat partnered with HBI students from Fort Carson, who helped build the home and received on-the-job skilled trades training. Their contributions also were recognized at the home dedication.
