Help build a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

We're excited that you're interested in volunteering with us! Together, we build strength, stability, and self-reliance through permanent, affordable housing.

Without volunteers, we cannot build and repair homes for our Pikes Peak Habitat families. Our volunteers represent the community we serve with pride, mutual respect, and fun on our build and repair sites and at our ReStores. Thank you for being part of our Pikes Peak Habitat family and helping to provide permanent, affordable housing for a family in our community!

90% of every Pikes Peak Habitat home is built by volunteers!

The service of volunteers enables our homes and home repairs to be affordable for workforce families in El Paso County.

Safeguarding Policy

Habitat for Humanity is committed to supporting a respectful and ethical workplace, safeguarding the rights of those we serve, and properly stewarding our donors’ funds and resources. In service to that commitment, and in accordance with its foundational mission principles, Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity opposes any form of discrimination, harassment, exploitation and abuse.

This 10-minute video explains the meaning of "safeguarding" and what our commitment to safeguarding means for volunteers as Habitat representatives. Learn more about Habitat and safeguarding.

Background Checks

Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity requires volunteer background / sex offender checks for all key volunteers. A key volunteer is defined as: (1) any volunteer, who, through Habitat programming, has consistent and direct contact with vulnerable populations; or (2) repeat volunteers who consistently volunteer for more than 8 hours per month after 3 consistent months. This policy is effective for all new key volunteers as of July 1, 2023. If you are a new volunteer who starts on or after July 1, 2023, you will be subject to this policy if you meet the requirements of a key volunteer. If you qualify as a key volunteer and refuse the background / sex offender checks, you will not be able to continue to volunteer.

Read the Criminal Background-Sex Offender Registry Check Policy (PDF).
