Join Us for the October Disaster Relief Trip
Are you looking for additional opportunities to serve others and put your beliefs into action? Are you passionate about disaster relief efforts? Have you been personally affected by wildfires and have a desire to support other communities that have faced similar natural disasters?
If so, consider joining Pikes Peak Habitat and Thrivent for our first worldwide disaster recovery trip to Medford, OR, this October. During the week we will serve a community affected by a devastating wildfire. The most destructive fire in Oregon’s history, the Almeda fire, scorched through Rogue Valley in September 2020. The fire left behind a 13-mile-long burn scar, destroyed 2,600 homes and 200 businesses, and left 10,000 people displaced. Habitat for Humanity Rogue Valley is dedicated to rebuilding their community and bring survivors back home. Our volunteer team will contribute to this work by building a home in partnership with a local family. Spots are filling quickly, so if you are interested in attending, follow these next steps before the August 22 registration deadline:
- Create an account in the Habitat Volunteer Community and register for the team.
- Email Chloe@pikespeakhabitat.org to notify our staff that you are planning to attend and create your fundraising page.
- To hold your spot on the team, submit a $250 deposit within one week of your registration. This deposit is made through your fundraising page.

Read About Various Faith Communities' Involvement with the Interfaith Unity Bench
Earlier this year, diverse faith communities throughout El Paso County came together to build an interfaith unity bench for our 3rd IBU homeowner, Jessica and her family. Over the past couple of weeks our Pikes Peak Habitat Blog has highlighted the experience of numerous faith communities who contributed in this project. Check out some of these blog posts to learn more about some of the faith communities who participated in this unique, creative project:
