Joel has been associated with Habitat for Humanity since 2017, serving as the Vice President of the Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors and also as a proud member of the Family Selection Committee.  

Joel graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, NE with a B.A. in Political Science, commissioning as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, where he served 30-yrs, with numerous combat deployments, peacekeeping operations, and multiple command tours, retiring as a Colonel.  

Joel continued his education while on active duty in the Army, earning a Masters of Science in Administration, with a concentration in Human Resources from Central Michigan University and a Masters of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College, in Washington D.C.

Joel is proud to call Colorado home, where he serves as the Fountain-Ft. Carson School District 8 Director of Human Resources, after living in over 15 x States and overseas, while growing up in a military family and during his time in active military service.  Both he and his wife, Anne have two adult children.
