Joining Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity in 2011, Laura is currently the Assistant Director of Strategic Partnerships with the majority of her work focusing on grants. Laura’s experience in the nonprofit sector since 1993 is comprised of serving the deaf and hard of hearing community of the Pikes Peak region as a nationally-certified sign language interpreter and executive director of the Pikes Peak Center on Deafness; development and fundraising for the Colorado Springs Philharmonic; and grant management for the Pikes Peak Workforce Center. Throughout the various roles and organizations, Laura’s motivation has been to keep the common good in mind and contribute where it’s needed and beneficial.
Laura was born in California but moved to Colorado with family shortly thereafter, and grew up in Woodland Park. Her BFA from Colorado State University is in Fine Arts with a concentration in printmaking, and she worked for several years as an artist before learning sign language which led to her work as an interpreter. Outside of the Habitat office, Laura pursues art and DIY projects with her husband William.
