Donations We Can't Accept

Thank you for thinking of the ReStore when you have donations! We focus on construction and home-improvement products. Read our donation guidelines (PDF) or view the guidelines for various categories:

Please note that exceptions may be made by drivers, receiving, and management. Some items may be denied due to current store needs.

Unfortunately, we can't take certain types of items or products in certain conditions:

What We Can't Accept

at the Pikes Peak Habitat ReStores

  • Baby furniture, gates, and cribs
  • Bedding
  • Box springs
  • Cabinets that are painted, water-damaged, broken, or missing doors, drawers, or shelves
  • Carpets or rugs that are used
  • Conference tables
  • Countertops that are banjo-style or that have excessive markings, stains, chips, water damage, or sink cutouts
  • Curtains
  • Doors that have personally hung mirrors; are fire-rated, painted, water-damaged, cut, or more than 8 feet high; or are glass/shower
  • Electronics such as batteries, TVs, computers, printers, and exercise equipment

Store interior
  • Fiberglass plumbing fixtures
  • Flooring that is used or scraps, or open bags of grout or cement
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • Fluorescent light fixtures
  • Furniture that has rips, stains, missing pieces, water damage, excessive gouges or chips, pet fur (because of allergies), or cigarette smell
  • Insulation that is unbagged
  • Light bulbs that are used
  • Loose glass for tables and desks
  • Lumber or trim that is warped or water damaged, is less than four feet, or has nails, screws, or other adhesives
  • Mattresses
  • Medical equipment
  • Mirrors
  • Office desks
Volunteer and donor
ReStore volunteer
  • Plumbing fixtures and supplies that have cracks, water damage, or mold
  • Small rock, pea gravel, or river rock in containers larger than five gallons
  • Valances
  • Waterbeds and accessories
  • Water softeners
  • Window coverings or blinds
  • Windows that are broken or unframed, damaged by hail or with broken seals, single-pane, or wood/aluminum-clad or metal-framed
  • Wood or plastic awnings
