The Ridge at Sand Creek Community Celebration
On June 17, 2022, we held a celebratory event to honor and recognize LeRoy Landhuis and Love In Action for their monumental donation of the 30 lots of developed land that made our newest Habitat community, The Ridge at Sand Creek, possible. Love In Action's partnership with Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity is a beautiful testament to putting God’s love into action.
This community will eventually be home to 30 Habitat families residing in their brand new, affordable homes for generations to come. The Ridge at Sand Creek serves as an excellent example of Habitat homes being built inside of a pre-developed neighborhood. It was a beautiful day to celebrate this impactful accomplishment in affordable workforce housing for qualifying El Paso County residents. Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate!
Reflecting on the land donation, LeRoy Landhuis, president of Love In Action, said, “I hope this is a blessing for our community, for the people who live here.”
Kris Lewis, Pikes Peak Habitat Executive Director/CEO, spoke about partnering with Love In Action to build attainable workforce housing, and the need for more housing. “We’re here to build a neighborhood, we’re here to create a very strong community, and we’re doing that. It’s because of so many of you in this room that advocate and understand that affordable housing is quality housing.”
