Kayla's Home Dedication, Triple Groundbreaking Scheduled Nov. 4

Join us at The Ridge at Sand Creek Nov. 4! We'll celebrate with four families who are marking milestones in their journey to homeownership.

At 9:30 a.m., we'll hold a groundbreaking for five adults and three children:

  • Gilas and her son, who will live in a recycled home in Woodmen Vistas, another Pikes Peak Habitat neighborhood in Colorado Springs. A recycled home is a Pikes Peak Habitat home that's been returned to our stock. We'll renovate it to meet current construction and energy standards, and then Gilas will purchase it.
  • Ida, Alex, and Lucia, plus Ida and Alex's daughter. Their home will be the Kum & Go Sponsored Build.
  • Janice and her teenage daughter

At 10:30 a.m., Kayla and her children will receive the keys to their new home at their dedication ceremony. Their home was the 3rd George Hammond Build--Honoring Tim Trowbridge. Both Hammond and Trowbridge are longtime volunteers who have served Pikes Peak Habitat in a variety of ways.
In December, we'll hold the home dedication for Ricardo and Mariela's family -- our Apostles Build. Stay tuned for details!

Global Village Subcommittee Open to Applications

Pikes Peak Habitat is accepting applications from supporters interested in joining our Global Village Subcommittee (PDF). Global Village is a Habitat for Humanity International initiative that brings people to another country to help build affordable homes, work alongside people from other cultures, and learn about housing needs from a specific community's perspective.

Chloe Henry, Pikes Peak Habitat's Faith in Action program manager, recently participated in a Global Village trip to Paraguay. She and other participants helped build a home for a local family and attended the dedication, where the whole community celebrated with the new homeowners!

The experience helped equip Henry to lead a Global Village trip to one of Pikes Peak Habitat's tithe partner countries in 2024.

Mike Maroone Honda and Acura Charity Car Show Supports 5th Veterans Build

Vintage Honda Civic

We're thankful to Mike Maroone Honda and to everyone who came out for the 6th Annual Honda and Acura Charity Car Show, which benefited Pikes Peak Habitat's 5th Veterans Build!

Participants came from as far away as Kansas and Nebraska to compete in the various categories, including the Low Car Limbo and the People's Choice! We appreciate everyone who joined us for a day of fun and to raise funds for a local veteran family's future home.

Damian is an Army veteran who met his wife, Trinady, while he was stationed at Ft. Carson and she was a college student in her hometown of Alamosa. A few months after they married, they learned she was pregnant with twins. Their daughters, Analise and Ember, are now two years old, and one has a rare blood disorder. Both girls struggle with health issues from the mold growing in their apartment, and the family also has experienced attempted break-ins and issues with the landlords.

“We as a family are thankful,” says Trinady to the many people who support the Veterans Build. “Not a lot of veterans get this kind of opportunity. Changing from being a soldier to being a civilian and working a regular job can be tough, and lots of veterans struggle to find their feet once out of the military. So helping veterans and their families is so amazing, and we are so thankful as well to all those who are willing to help.”
