H.M. King Abdullah II U.N. World Interfaith Harmony Week Prize

Pikes Peak Habitat received second place in 2024

Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce that our 2024 UN World Interfaith Harmony Week initiative, which included daily activities as well as the "Who Is Your Neighbor?" interfaith dialogue, won second place in the H.M. King Abdullah II U.N. World Interfaith Harmony Week prize competition.

The prize, which includes a silver medal and $3,000, was presented at the Jordanian Embassy in Washington, D.C., on July 16, 2024.

Chloe Henry, Pikes Peak Habitat Faith in Action Program Manager, along with CEO Kris Lewis and Board President Eric Stolp, attended the ceremony. They had the chance to speak with Dina Kawar, Jordanian Ambassador to the United States.

Habitat for Humanity International staff members Anna (Brandt) Castelli, U.S. faith engagement manager; Carley Ruff, senior director of U.S. government relations; and Peter Rumsey, director operations, housing and community strategy, also joined the Pikes Peak Habitat group in Washington, D.C.

In addition to attending the award ceremony, the group met with the White House’s Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. They discussed Pikes Peak Habitat's interfaith programs, including "Bridgebuilding: An Interfaith Collaboration," an eight-part video training series for anyone interested in interfaith work, produced as our contribution to the White House's Team Up pilot project.

“It’s an honor for our Pikes Peak Habitat affiliate and our work over the past year to be recognized, not only on the national level with the Team Up initiative but also at the international level with the World interfaith Harmony Week competition,” says Henry. “This award is a testament to the dedication of all of our faith-based partners, community organizations, and universities that we’re able to work with to make this event happen.”

U.N. World Interfaith Harmony Week takes place every year from Feb. 1-7. In celebration of this initiative, Pikes Peak Habitat hosts an annual interfaith dialogue and posts daily activities to both our website and our social media channels.

Our 2024 dialogue, “Who Is Your Neighbor?,” took place on the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs campus Feb. 4 and was held in partnership with the Pikes Peak Inter Faith Coalition and the Colorado Springs Mayors Office.

"Our Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity staff and Interfaith Build for Unity (IBU) subcommittee are honored to accept this award,” says Henry. “We would like to extend our deep appreciation to H.M. King Abdullah II and the esteemed panel of judges for organizing World Interfaith Harmony Week. This award has inspired our IBU subcommittee and partner faith communities to continue to work together in unity to support those in need of a safe, affordable place to call home in our community, to build bridges across lines of religious difference, and dispel misconceptions about one another."
