Year in Review Shows Impact of Your Support

Year in Review booklet cover with photo collage

In late September, Pikes Peak Habitat released our Year in Review materials--an executive summary, a booklet, and a video of CEO Kris Lewis discussing highlights from fiscal year 2024, which ran from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.

Every day, we are aware that we couldn't do this work without you. Your donations, volunteer hours, ideas, and passion are the fuel that keeps us running!

The Year in Review materials show just how crucial your support is.

Almost 3,000 of you volunteered on our construction site, with our home repair program, and/or in our two ReStore locations.

Thanks to you, we finished building five new homes and completed one recycled home (a home we originally built that was returned to us and renovated in partnership with a new homeowner). We completed 77 repair projects focused on health, safety, and accessibility.

Our ReStores diverted 2,291 tons of materials from landfills thanks to sales and recycling programs.

And we tithed $154,000 to global Habitat affiliates and funds, impacting 34 families internationally.

Thank you. Thank you for your volunteer hours, your donations of funds and materials, and most of all, your passion for our mission and the families we serve. The numbers and stories in our Year in Review publications are a testament to the impact every one of you makes, here in El Paso County and throughout the world.

On Saturday, Nov. 9 -- just in time for Veterans Day! -- we'll welcome Army veteran Damian, his wife Trinady, and their twins to their new home at The Ridge at Sand Creek! We're thrilled to be able to thank Damian for his service by partnering with his family so they can purchase an affordable home--our 5th Veterans Build.

The celebration starts at 10:30 a.m. at 5303 Beauport Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80915. You are invited to join us in welcoming this family to their new home and community!

Fall Begins with Double Ground Blessing and Home Dedication

We kicked off the fall season with a double ground blessing and a home dedication at The Ridge at Sand Creek.

First, at 9:30 a.m., we celebrated the start of construction with Glenda's family and Tamara's family. Both future homeowners were joined by extended family members, as well as the children who will live in the homes with them.

Glenda's home, a Fund for Humanity Build, is slated for completion in May 2025.

Tamara's home, scheduled to be dedicated in June 2025, is the Paul Johnson Memorial Build, named to honor the man who served as Pikes Peak Habitat's executive director from 1997 to 2014.

After the ground blessing, at 10:30 a.m., we celebrated the home dedication for Miranda's family.

Miranda later shared that as soon as her family moved into the home, neighborhood kids were knocking on the door, asking her son to play! This is the community you are partnering with us to build here in El Paso County.

Registration Opens for Gingerbread Home Build

Meet Our 6th Veterans Build Family
Registration graphic with photos of gingerbread home and Willie and Barbara

It's that time of year again! Registration for our 2024 Gingerbread Home Build is now open! This event raises funds to help build an affordable home for Willie and Barbara, our 6th Veterans Build family.

Willie is a U.S. Army veteran who was stationed at Fort Carson during his service and also is the son of a Korean War veteran. Barbara’s father served in Vietnam. Both also have siblings who are veterans – so they have deep military ties.

Between them, Willie and Barbara are the parents of eight children (four apiece!) and 29 grandchildren. They look forward to having enough space to host family when they move into their Pikes Peak Habitat home.

“We look at our blessings ahead, and nothing can stop us!” says Willie. “We have a goal, and we can see it.”

They're excited to decorate their own gingerbread home and also to see the many creative entries from other individuals, families, and organizations!
