ReStore South Celebrates 20 Years with 20-Day Sale

ReStore truck and sign

On January 17, 2004, Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity opened our first ReStore at 411 S. Wahsatch Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Twenty years later, we're still at this location--and we've also expanded to ReStore Northeast, 6250 Tutt Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80923, and online via our eBay storefront.

Over the past 20 years, proceeds from ReStore sales have contributed to the construction of 128 homes for workforce families in El Paso County!

We couldn't have accomplished this without you: your donations, volunteer hours, and purchases. And to thank you for your support, we're holding a 20th anniversary sale beginning Jan. 17. For 20 days--through Feb. 5--shoppers can take 20% off one item per purchase! This includes purchased and new products (orange tags) but excludes bulk and bundle orders.

We're also holding a meet-and-greet with one of our future homeowners, Miranda, from 5-6 p.m. on Jan.17. Stop by the store to speak with Miranda and find out how your support is changing her life!

Interfaith Dialogue Focuses on Neighborliness, Civic Engagement

Boards decorated with words from interfaith groups

In 2010, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the first week in February annually as World Interfaith Harmony Week, with the goals of showcasing the importance of interfaith dialogue among people of diverse faith backgrounds, belief systems, and spiritual practices—spreading the message of goodwill and respect. In recognition of this annual initiative, you are invited to join Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity and the Pikes Peak Inter Faith Coalition for "Who is My Neighbor? An interfaith dialogue focused on neighborliness and partnering with civic officials to address the need for affordable homeownership" on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024 from 4 - 6 p.m.

Join Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity, the Pikes Peak Inter Faith Coalition, and various community partners for an important community discussion as we seek to answer: Who is your neighbor? During this free community event, panelists representing diverse faiths will share examples of neighborliness and what that means in the context of their belief systems. Additionally, representatives from the City of Colorado Springs Mayor’s Office will articulate the city’s plan to address this community issue as well as actionable steps that faith communities can take to get involved. Following the panel, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a unique, facilitated interfaith dialogue discussion. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Thanks for Your Support with Pikes Peak Habitat's End-of-Year Campaigns!

Family hugging each other

Every holiday season we are blown away by people’s generosity, and this year was no different.

The holidays can be emotionally and financially challenging for some people, but it is so encouraging to see our volunteers and donors step up and give the gift of home to workforce families in El Paso County.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Pikes Peak Habitat this giving season. We couldn't do it without you!

Pikes Peak Habitat Sends Representatives to Habitat on the Hill

All 12 Colorado Springs mayoral candidates, plus forum moderators

Habitat on the Hill, Habitat for Humanity's annual legislative conference, will take place in Washington, D.C. from Feb. 6-8. This year's theme is "Reaching New Heights, Together."

Several representatives from Pikes Peak Habitat plan to attend. Board member Tim Trowbridge, who also serves on the Habitat for Humanity International U.S. Policy Committee of the U.S. Council and the Habitat for Humanity Colorado Advocacy Committee, will join Karla Probert, assistant to the CEO and affiliate advocacy ambassador, and Sarah Buchen, Pikes Peak Habitat volunteer manager, for the conference.

Probert will present a poster about our 2023 Colorado Springs Mayoral Candidate Forum on Affordable Homeownership. She says attendees from last year overwhelmingly requested "more time to network, share ideas, and learn from peers." As a result, Habitat established a poster exhibition.

"The idea is that affiliates and affiliate support organization exhibitors from across the country will share policy solutions, advocacy strategies and research that can be leveraged to advance their own public policy goals at home," she explains. "Their goal is for this session to be a peer-learning activity for all Habitat on the Hill participants, a thought leadership opportunity for presenters and a relationship building opportunity for all. Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity was specifically requested to participate in this event to share the success of our Mayoral Forum in the category of advocacy strategy. I will be on hand to present our poster and answer any questions. As a presenter, I was awarded a scholarship to attend the conference."
